Our Position on Artificial Intelligence
Health News Daily believes in transparency about how we produce our content. As AI technology becomes increasingly integrated into modern newsrooms, we want our readers to understand exactly how we use these tools and — importantly — the limits we place on their use.
This AI Disclosure Policy explains our approach to AI in our editorial operations. It was last updated on 8 March 2026.
How We Use AI
We may use artificial intelligence tools to assist with certain aspects of our editorial workflow, including:
Research and information gathering: AI tools may help our journalists quickly scan large volumes of published research, press releases, government reports and datasets to identify relevant information for stories.
Drafting and structuring: AI may be used to assist with initial drafts, suggested structures or summaries that our journalists then substantially rewrite, edit and develop into finished articles.
Data analysis: AI tools may assist with processing health statistics, spotting trends in public health data or compiling information from multiple sources.
Proofreading and language: AI may be used to check grammar, spelling and readability of content before final editorial review.
What AI Does Not Do
AI does not make editorial decisions at Health News Daily. Specifically:
— AI does not decide what stories we cover or how we cover them. All editorial decisions are made by our human editorial team.
— AI does not publish content. No article, headline or update goes live without being reviewed, edited, fact-checked and approved by a human member of our editorial team.
— AI does not replace our journalists. Our editorial team is responsible for the accuracy, fairness, context and quality of every article we publish.
— AI does not interact with our readers. All reader communications, including responses to feedback, corrections and complaints, are handled by our editorial team.
Human Editorial Oversight
This is the core principle of our AI policy: every piece of content published on Health News Daily is reviewed, edited, fact-checked and approved by a named human editor or journalist before publication.
Our editorial review process applies equally to all content, whether AI tools were involved in the production process or not. The responsible journalist or editor is identified by byline on every article and takes full accountability for its accuracy and quality.
Our Editor-in-Chief, James Whitfield, has final approval over all editorial content and oversees the implementation of this policy.
Why We Use AI
We use AI tools because they can help a small editorial team work more efficiently — allowing us to cover more stories, process more data and deliver more timely reporting to our readers. However, we recognise that AI tools can produce errors, lack nuance, and are not capable of the editorial judgement that responsible health journalism requires. That is why human oversight is non-negotiable.
Accuracy and AI Limitations
We are aware that AI-generated content can contain factual errors, outdated information, fabricated sources or misleading framing. For this reason:
— All factual claims in AI-assisted content are independently verified by our editorial team against authoritative sources, as described in our Editorial Policy & Ethics.
— Any AI-generated text is substantially rewritten, checked and edited before publication. We do not publish raw AI output.
— If an error in any article — AI-assisted or otherwise — is identified, we correct it promptly and transparently in line with our Corrections Policy.
Labelling and Transparency
We do not individually label articles as “AI-assisted” because AI tools are integrated into our workflow at varying levels, and all content undergoes the same rigorous human editorial process regardless. Instead, we are transparent at the policy level through this disclosure, ensuring readers understand our overall approach.
If our approach to AI labelling changes in the future — for example, in response to new UK regulations or industry standards — we will update this policy accordingly.
Your Questions and Feedback
We welcome questions and feedback from our readers about our use of AI. If you have concerns about any aspect of our AI practices, please contact us at [email protected].
Review
This policy is reviewed regularly by the Editor-in-Chief to ensure it reflects our current practices and evolving best practice in AI transparency for news publishers. We will update it as AI technology, industry standards and regulatory requirements develop.
